"Every government interference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others."

"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary."

Ayn Rand

Rand put it best in her 1973 article, “Censorship: Local and Express”:

“The conservatives see man as a body freely roaming the earth, building sand piles or factories -- with an electronic computer inside his skull, controlled from Washington . The liberals [the Democrats] see man as a soul freewheeling to the farthest reaches of the universe -- but wearing chains from nose to toes when he crosses the street to buy a loaf of bread.”

Further on, she notes:
“…Each camp wants to control the realm it regards as metaphysically important; each grants freedom only to the activities it despises….. ‘Control,‘ to both camps, means the power to rule by physical force. The conservatives want to rule man’s consciousness; the liberals, his body.”

In his inaugural speech, Obama said that "this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control".

No watchful eye? "You mean, Mr. President, when it is without the watchful eye of the SEC, FDA, CRA, FDIC, FCC, OSHA, FTC, EPA, SIPC, CTFC, EDA, ITA, MBDA, TA, FERC, AHRQ, HSRA, NLRB, BRB, ILAB, ECAB, ESA, OWCP, WHD, MSHA, EBSA, the Antitrust Division of the Justice Department, and the Federal Reserve?" (H. Binswanger) If we have any more oversight we'll run out of acronyms. The more agencies the government creates the worse off we are.

The left likes to blame the free market. What's that? When have we EVER had a free market? The Fed has been with us for almost 100 years and the anti-trust laws since the 1890's. Most of FDR's alphabet soup is still around. HELLO! It's not working! In the words of Ayn Rand from Atlas Shrugged, "get the hell out of our way!" Whenever we've had even the smallest increase in freedom in our economy, we have led the world in productivity.

If throwing money at the problem were the answer, we would never have had a problem in the first place. Washington has spent hundreds of billions every year.
